Trends and Predictions Leading into Election Day: The electoral experts from UNG talk about the trends and provide predictions about what will happen in the November elections.
Understanding America is a program series dedicated to educating the public and encouraging discussions on American politics and government. These programs will be on the first Sunday of every month at 2:00 p.m. at the Sharon Forks Library. Each program will consist of 45 minutes of presentation by a University of North Georgia professor following 45 minutes of a roundtable discussion on the topic of the month.
This program is intended for adults and high school students.
This month's topic is Trends and Predictions Leading into Election Day presented by Dr. Carl Cavalli, Dr. Joe Gershtenson, Dr. Nathan Price, and Dr. Eric Wilk.
Dr. Nathan Price is an Associate Professor of Political Science & International Affairs at the University of North Georgia’s Blue Ridge Campus. He completed a bachelor’s degree in political science and history at Miami University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science at Louisiana State University. He studied at Miami University’s Dolibois European Center located in Luxembourg.
Dr. Eric M. Wilk is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Georgia In 2000, he earned a Master’s Degree in political management at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. His Ph.D in political science was earned from the University at Buffalo, SUNY in 2010. He is interested in political parties, congress, the presidency, federalism, campaigns and elections, money in politics, civil liberties, and empirical research analysis.
Dr. Joe Gershtenson began teaching at the University of North Georgia in 2022 after having previously worked at East Carolina University, Eastern Kentucky University, and St. Mary’s University of Texas. He attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC as an undergraduate, completed a Master’s program at the University of California, San Diego, and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Texas. His research interests are in the areas of public opinion and political behavior.
Dr. Carl D. Cavalli came to North Georgia College (as it was then known) in 1993 and is currently a Professor at the University of North Georgia. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His professional and teaching interests lie in the areas of the presidency, Congress, political parties and federal elections.
