This program will take a look at monsters whose origins are right here in the Peach State. Everyone's probably heard of Bigfoot, but Georgia is also the historical home to at least one river monster, some mysterious giant catfish, a famously violent poltergeist, occasional space aliens, and even a werewolf! What are the stories, and what does science have to say about the chances they're real?
About the Presenter: Blake Smith is a writer, researcher, and podcaster who has a lifelong interest in monsters and the paranormal - but who is also a strong advocate of using scientific skepticism to critically examine these fascinating stories. His podcast MonsterTalk has been using monsters as a springboard to discuss science, folklore and culture since 2009. He's been published in Fortean Times, Skeptical Inquirer, Skeptic Magazine, and Weird Tales.
