Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt.
Shelby Van Pelt will speak and sign books at the Forsyth Conference Center at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. This event is intended for adults and admission is free, but advance registration is required.
Registration for this year’s event has filled, but you can check the event page to check as spots become available on the wait list.
In addition to the author event, the Library hosts a series of programs related to the book's theme. The story of Remarkably Bright Creatures centers around an octopus, so it's no surprise that our events this year celebrate aquatic wonders!
An annual celebration of reading in Forsyth County!
The event started in 2008 to encourage literacy and foster community togetherness. It has become our annual community read event held in March or April. For this event, the Library picks one novel that we recommend to our entire community as a great read.
Forsyth Reads Together engages readers across the community in discussions, educational events, and author talks focused on a single book selection. Sharing a book with our neighbors makes it part of the public discourse and we can begin to understand one another better, as well as reflect on the ways that modern literature both represents and influences our society.
In addition to our author event, we host a series of programs that tie in with the theme of our book selection.
Forsyth County Public Library selects the Forsyth Reads Together book and coordinates the event, but none of this would be possible without our generous sponsors, the Forsyth County Arts Alliance and FCPL Friends & Advocates.
Read it Again Books provides books for sale at the event each year.
The event is hosted at the Forsyth Conference Center.
