K9 team "Calvin and Hobbs" from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will walk us through the training that both humans and dogs undergo to join the special unit, and Deputy Hobbs will discuss the various cases the K9 unit works, ranging from search and rescue to security and detection.

About Deputy Hobbs
DFC. Hobbs has been employed with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office since September 2011, working in the Jail, Uniform Patrol, and Special Enforcement Division under the traffic (H.E.A.T.) unit. He currently assists the Traffic Specialist Unit with investigating serious injury/fatal accidents and holds the title of Drug Recognition Expert and K9 Handler. He is currently assigned to the Special Enforcement Division. Deputy Hobbs has a twin brother who also works for the Sheriff's office and is assigned to the K9 unit.
About Calvin
K9 Calvin is a two-year-old Golden Retriever who was born in Colombia (South America). He was purchased from Southern Coast K9 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He is a narcotic and tracking detection K9 and was certified this year in article detection searches. K9 Calvin has only been in service with the Sheriff's for 1 year and has already had three successful tracking finds. Calvin's duties include narcotic's detection in the Forsyth County middle/high schools, attending public relation events, and assisting deputies with narcotic detection/tracking.
