Okinawa Island and its surrounding islands have a long history, from the ancient times as the prosperous Ryuku Kingdom to modern day as Japan's southernmost prefecture. Enjoy a glimpse of this special island culture through an exciting Okinawan taiko drum and dance performance, known as eisa.

This program is part of the Celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage series.

Atlanta Okinawa Kenjin Kai is an association of people from the prefecture of Okinawa, serving the greater Atlanta and north Georgia region. This group is made up of dedicated and enthusiastic supporters whose greatest desire is to share the unique Okinawan culture and character with the world.
